Calculation of Mcr for Continuously restrained purlin member Posted: 26 Apr 2010 11:55 AM |
Hi this is Manish. Currently i'm designing a Power House Building. I wanted to design the roof purlins taking lateral restraint advantage of sheeting (Double Skin with insulation in between). I saw some of the examples related to this topic. The problem is whenever they talk about calculating critical moment they give reference to LT beam software. I'm really not comfortable to use this software. I wanted to see some calculations. Here i'm considering Purlin member simply supported at the ends and span is (7.0m) Steel sheeting is connected to purlins (UPN200) at the top flange providing lateral restraint to purlin member. Please help me to idealise this situation and to calculate the value of critical moment for this case.
If somebody can provide me a example problem and at the same time input to LT beam software that would be a great help.
Thanks in advance. |
